How to make macarons

Macarons are one of the most popular pastries in the world. They are popular for their delicate texture and vibrant colors, making them a favorite at parties, special occasions, and even as a special treat for yourself. But what if you don’t have access to a French bakery? Don’t worry, you can still make delicious macarons right in your own kitchen. Here’s how.

1. Gather Your Ingredients: To make macarons, you’ll need almond flour, powdered sugar, egg whites, and any food coloring or flavors you want to add. All of these ingredients can be found at any grocery store.

2. Make the Macaron Shells: Start by combining the almond flour and powdered sugar in a food processor and pulsing until they are fully combined. Then, sift the mixture into a bowl and set aside. Next, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Once you have stiff peaks, slowly add in the almond mixture until everything is fully combined. At this point, you can add any flavorings or food coloring that you wish.

3. Pipe the Macaron Shells: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spoon the macaron batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe the macaron shells onto the prepared baking sheet. Make sure that the shells are all the same size for even baking.

4. Let the Macarons Rest: Allow the macarons to sit at room temperature for 15-30 minutes. This will allow them to form a “skin” that will help them to keep their shape during baking.

5. Bake the Macarons: Preheat your oven to 300°F and bake the macarons for 12-15 minutes or until they are lightly golden brown on top. Allow the macarons to cool completely before filling them.

6. Fill the Macarons: Once the macarons are cooled, it’s time to fill them. You can use any filling you like, from ganache to jam or even buttercream. Place a dollop of filling on one side of a macaron shell and then sandwich it together with another shell of the same size.

7. Enjoy! Now that your macarons are filled and ready to eat, serve them or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Enjoy your homemade macarons!

Making macarons may seem intimidating at first but with a little patience and practice, you’ll be able to create delicious homemade macarons in no time. Now that you know how to make macarons, why not give it a try?
